Capitol Federal's 119th Year of True Blue® Service
NEWS RELEASE
TOPEKA, Kan. – Capitol Federal® United Way campaign chairs Wendy George and Kimberly Sims announced the results of the Bank’s 2012 Topeka United Way campaign contribution. George and Sims, accompanied by Chairman John B. Dicus, presented a replica check in the amount of $221,446.82 to Miriam Krehbiel, United Way of Greater Topeka president and CEO. The ceremony took place on the third floor of the Bank’s home office, 700 S. Kansas Ave.
“Each year, Capitol Federal employees are excited to raise funds and personally donate to the United Way,” George said. “Capitol Federal is pleased to announce its combined employee and Capitol Federal Foundation gift. This high level of giving is a source of pride for our employees and Foundation alike. Our annual campaign is a strong Capitol Federal tradition, providing us the opportunity to help our fellow citizens. With matching contributions from Capitol Federal Foundation, the Bank was able to give a grand total of $221,446.82 to the United Way of Greater Topeka.”
“The United Way continues to benefit from the generosity of Capitol Federal’s employees and the Foundation,” said Krehbiel. “Their support for the community is evident through these gifts.”
The United Way of Greater Topeka provides services through local contributions collected for its many area agencies. These services include: quality, affordable childcare, food for the hungry and assistance with utility or rent payment; thus preventing fellow citizens from becoming among the homeless of our community.
The United Way is focused on making a measurable impact in the community by focusing on the root causes of the community’s most serious problems. The United Way system includes more than 1,300 community-based United Way organizations. Each is independent, separately incorporated and governed by local volunteers. Capitol Federal and the United Way have a long standing tradition. Capitol Federal has donated yearly to the United Way since its beginnings. Through contributions by Capitol Federal Foundation, the Bank also continues to be a major sponsor of the United Way’s 2-1-1 initiative.
