Capitol Federal® Adopts Final Christmas Bureau Families, Raises $16,000 for Charity
December 21, 2015
Capitol Federal® and its employees adopted the final families left on the United Way of Greater Topeka’s Christmas Bureau list. This is the first time every single person signed-up has been adopted since the Christmas Bureau began in 1941.
Capitol Federal adopted 50 individuals to start and raised funds to adopt anyone left on the list. Through events and gifts, employees raised $8,100.86. With a matching grant from the Capitol Federal® Foundation, Capitol Federal raised a grand total of $16,201.72 to benefit the Christmas Bureau. Any leftover funds will go towards adopting Christmas Bureau families next year. Employees delivered the wrapped presents and a Dillons grocery gift card to families throughout Topeka, brightening their Christmas celebrations.
“Congratulations to the United Way, and to everyone in Topeka, for stepping up and making this holiday brighter for families in need across the area,” said Capitol Federal Chairman John B. Dicus. “Capitol Federal is proud to have adopted the final Christmas Bureau families. By raising funds, purchasing gifts, and delivering presents to local families, it brings joy and holiday cheer to our employees and the families we adopted. CapFed® is proud to support the community and wishes everyone a safe and healthy New Year.”
