In the spirit of the giving season, Capitol Federal drew the Topeka winner of its “Grand Giving” contest. This contest awards seven lucky individuals, one from each of CapFed’s communities, with $1,000 and the opportunity to ‘pay-it-forward’ with an additional $1,000 awarded to the local non-profit of their choice.
The Topeka winner was Lana Hood. The charity Lana chose to give $1,000 was Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging. “I chose JAAA because ‘There Is No Place Like Home’ but especially for our elderly. I appreciate JAAA’s commitment and resources to assist seniors and their families in helping them stay home as long as possible. I first became aware of JAAA years ago while working at Jayhawk Pharmacy & Patient Supply. I've always admired and appreciated the elders in my life and the wisdom and love they have shared!”
Jocelyn Lyons, Executive Director of Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging, expressed her gratitude to Lana and CapFed®. "We at Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging are excited to be the recipient of a $1,000 donation from CapFed and Lana,” said Jocelyn. “Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging, Inc. was incorporated in July 1976 with the mission of advocating on aging issues, building community partnerships and implementing programs within Shawnee, Jefferson and Douglas counties to assist seniors to live independent and dignified lives.”
When asked what their organization plans to do with the $1,000, Jocelyn said, “The donation will be used to support our Guardian Angel fund in better serving our most frail senior population and help resolve unmet unique needs of seniors in our service area.”
