In the spirit of the giving season, Capitol Federal® drew the Wichita winner of its “Grand Giving” contest. This contest awards seven lucky individuals, one from each of CapFed’s communities, with $1,000 and the opportunity to ‘pay-it-forward’ with an additional $1,000 awarded to the local non-profit of their choice.
The Wichita winner was John Davis. The charity John chose to give $1,000 was the Quivira Council, Boy Scouts of America. “The Boy Scouts are extremely important in preparing responsible citizens for the country. They develop the kids to be a productive and meaningful part of society,” said John.
Mike Johnson, Scout Executive with the Quivira Council, Boys Scouts of America, expressed his gratitude to John and CapFed®. "Thank you very much, we appreciate being the recipient of the Grand Giving contest and we appreciate the support of Capitol Federal,” said Mike. “The Quivira Council, Boy Scouts of America serves over 10,000 young people in 30 counties in Southern and Southeast Kansas with a values based, character development program.”
When asked what their organization plans to do with the $1,000, Mike said, “The support of Capitol Federal is much appreciated and this gift will support the Campership program which helps financially challenged youth attend camp. In 2016, 243 Scouts received camperships to attend camp and experience the fun and adventure of the outdoors."
