January 11, 2017
Capitol Federal® United Way Campaign Ambassadors Misty Gray and Joe Beasley announced the results of the Bank’s 2016 Topeka United Way campaign contributions. Accompanied by Chief Executive Officer John B. Dicus, two replica checks were presented to United Way of Greater Topeka Interim President and CEO Carol Wheeler and UW Staff. The first check was made payable to the United Way of Greater Topeka in the amount of $192,375.88. The second check was made payable to all the Bank’s market area United Ways, totaling $343,767.38. The ceremony took place at the Bank’s Home Office, 700 S Kansas Ave, Topeka.
“Whether you are donating money or volunteering your time to the United Way, both have a huge impact in our community,” said Gray. “The United Way is helping change our community in many ways for all ages. I highly recommend taking the bus tour the United Way of Topeka offers to see the great changes that are happening across our area. It changed my views for sure!”
CEO Dicus remarked, “I’m proud of our CapFed® employees for believing, giving and living the United Way. With a matching contribution from Capitol Federal® Foundation, CapFed employees are excited to be a part of the positive sustainable change created by the United Way in our communities.”
“Capitol Federal and their employees have once again demonstrated their dedication to the Topeka community with this amazing gift,” said Wheeler. “United Way of Greater Topeka is so fortunate to have them as a supporting partner in helping to meet the needs of our community.”
Capitol Federal and the United Way have a long-standing tradition. Capitol Federal has donated yearly to the United Way since its beginnings, supporting education, financial stability and community development needs.
