Capitol Federal® Renews Partners in Education Commitment with Highland Park Central Elementary
September 28, 2017

Capitol Federal® renewed its partnership with Highland Park Central Elementary School during a ceremony at the school. Capitol Federal Chief Executive Officer John B. Dicus and Highland Park Central Principal Pilar Mejía signed the agreement with students, faculty and volunteer representatives on hand to witness the event. Through the Partners in Education agreement, first signed in 1996, Capitol Federal employees volunteer with students and tutor them in various subjects. This year, CapFed® volunteers will help with guided reading in kindergarten, first grade and second grade classrooms at the school.

“This year marks Capitol Federal’s 21st year as a Partner in Education with Highland Park Central Elementary,” said CEO Dicus. “CapFed employees truly enjoy taking time out of their work day to volunteer at the school. Assisting staff and helping students are both rewarding experiences, and we look forward to another great school year together.”

Principal Mejía expressed her gratitude and remarked on the importance of having dedicated volunteers, "I am very excited about - and looking forward to - continuing the partnership between HPC and CapFed. This has been a tradition at our school for more than 20 years, making our CapFed volunteers part of our Scottie family. Having people working with our students on literacy skills, in small groups, is invaluable for focusing on the specific needs of our children, so it is with great enthusiasm we welcome our CapFed volunteers back!"
