January 10, 2019

TOPEKA, Kan. – Capitol Federal® United Way Campaign Ambassador Amanda Buchmeier announced the results of the Bank’s 2018 Topeka United Way campaign contributions at a ceremony inside the Bank’s Home Office, 700 S. Kansas Ave, Topeka.  Accompanied by Chief Executive Officer John B. Dicus, two replica checks were presented to United Way of Greater Topeka President and CEO Jessica Lehnherr and UW Staff.

The first check was made payable to the United Way of Greater Topeka and totaled $236,102.84.

The second check was made payable to all the Bank’s market area United Ways and was a summation of contributions from employees in all CapFed® market areas.  The second check totaled $375,911.22.

“As a Campaign Ambassador, I saw, first hand, the amazing work the United Way of Greater Topeka is doing in our community,” said Buchmeier.  “Moreover, I saw the passion from employees of companies across Topeka and Shawnee County to help those in need and give to such a worthy cause."

CEO Dicus remarked, “CapFed employees are proud to donate to the United Way campaign.  Since its beginnings, we’ve seen the impact of the United Way and will continue to promote their mission of supporting education, financial stability and community development needs.  With a dollar-for-dollar match from Capitol Federal Foundation®, CapFed employees are excited to be a part of the positive, sustainable change the United Way provides our communities.”

“Capitol Federal is a True Blue® friend of the United Way of Greater Topeka,” said Lehnherr.  “CapFed wholeheartedly believes in our mission, and we are grateful for their generous support – both monetarily and with their employee volunteers.  We would not be able to bring together people, companies and nonprofits in our community without our business partners, and we are lucky to have CapFed as a UW champion.”
