TOPEKA, Kan. – Capitol Federal® announced the results of the Bank’s 2019 Topeka United Way campaign contributions at a ceremony inside the Bank’s Home Office, 700 S. Kansas Ave, Topeka.  Chief Executive Officer John B. Dicus presented two replica checks to United Way of Greater Topeka President and CEO Jessica Lehnherr and UW Staff.

The first check was made payable to the United Way of Greater Topeka and totaled $199,656.08.

The second check was made payable to all the Bank’s market area United Ways and was a summation of contributions from employees in all CapFed® market areas.  The second check totaled $342,345.58.

“It was such a rewarding experience to represent CapFed and volunteer for an organization whose work I am so passionate about,” said CapFed United Way Honorary Campaign Chair Sarah Sanders.  “It’s important to support the UW because they work hard to focus resources and ensure they are creating long-term sustainable change in Topeka and surrounding communities.”

CEO Dicus remarked, “Donating to the United Way of Greater Topeka is a tradition our employees have supported since the beginning of our partnership with this great organization.  The True Blue® generosity from our CapFed employees is doubled by a dollar-for-dollar match from the Capitol Federal Foundation®, and I am proud of their commitment to giving and helping those in need in our community.”

“Capitol Federal is a True Blue friend of the United Way,” said Lehnherr.  “Funds raised will provide funding support for our vital programs to ensure more children enter Kindergarten ready, assist grade school children to be on grade in reading and math, assist youth and families to become financial stable, and provide basic needs in the areas of healthcare & prescription assistance, food, rent and utility assistance and safety from domestic violence.”
