Capitol Federal® Unveils 200 New “BlueBikes” With Topeka Metro Bikes
June 29, 2018

TOPEKA, Kan. – Capitol Federal® is pleased to announce the continuation of its partnership with Topeka Metro Bikes and expansion of the city’s bike share program.  A fleet of 200 new ‘BlueBikes’ were added to the existing fleet of 100 blue Topeka Metro Bikes.  The new BlueBikes will be scattered throughout the city for people to enjoy, and help support Topeka’s transportation options.

Through the TMB bike share program, CapFed® continues its commitment to the community.  John B. Dicus, Chief Executive Officer of Capitol Federal, states: “Now with 300 BlueBikes across our community, Capitol Federal is proud to help fulfill the rising demand for the TMB program and continue their mission of enhancing affordable transportation options.”

Karl Fundenberger, Director of Bicycle Operations, echoed CEO Dicus.  “There has been a great response to the bike share program, and having additional bikes is a plus for Topekans who want to ride.  The red bikes had a paint defect and were recalled by the vendor, so all the TMB bikes are now BlueBikes.  With a bright blue color and fun slogans on their baskets, as well as a new gear system, wider tires and cup holders, be on the lookout for the new BlueBikes across Topeka.”

To relaunch the BlueBikes, CapFed hosted a photo booth at two major TMB Bike Hubs: One at 618 S. Kansas and one at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library.  People could stop by for a photo and grab a BlueBikes keychain.
