Debit Card with EMV Chip Image

EMV Chip Technology

big security. tiny chip.

During 2016, Capitol Federal® True Blue® Direct cardholders will receive a newly designed debit card. It has the same benefits you currently enjoy, but with an important new security feature.

Chip technology gives your card an added layer of security.

The new card has an embedded secure computer chip for added fraud protection when making purchases at a chip-enabled terminal. It works by first validating your card and then generating a one-time use security code. This code is virtually impossible to counterfeit and helps reduce in-store fraud.

How will I use the new card?

It’s easy. If the retailer has a chip-enabled terminal, simply insert the new card, face up, in the terminal. The chip card will remain inside the terminal while the transaction is processed. To authorize your transaction, just follow the instructions on the screen. If the retailer is not equipped to read the chip card, swipe your card as you would today. For transactions made online or over the phone, there will be no changes.
