Overdraft Management Options

overdrafts can happen, but we have options to help you avoid them.

If at any time, you wish to change your overdraft election, please do so by completing the form available for the overdraft plan. You may also send a secure message using True Blue Online® or visit your local Capitol Federal® branch.

Overdraft Protection Plan

Capitol Federal's Overdraft Protection Plan can link your checking account to a companion checking, money market, savings or Execuline account for automatic transfers to protect you from account overdrafts. If you enroll in the Overdraft Protection Plan, True Blue Direct VISA® debit card transactions, checks and ACH (electronic debits to the account) items are paid if funds in the Overdraft Protection account are available for transfer.

There is a service charge of $8 per transfer if you are enrolled in the Overdraft Protection Plan.

If you would like to enroll, please complete the Overdraft Protection Application and return it to your local Capitol Federal® branch. This plan does require registration in person at any Capitol Federal branch and certain restrictions apply.

Standard Overdraft for Checks and ACH

All customers are automatically opted in for Standard Overdraft Services to cover overdrafts occurring through ACH and check clearing. The bank does charge a fee for each item it pays beyond your account balance, but this helps you avoid returned checks and late payment charges from merchants and billers. Checks and ACH payments made beyond your account balance are subject to a $32 overdraft fee, per item paid.

Customers may opt out of the service at any time. If you do chose to opt out, items beyond your account balance will be returned as insufficient funds and you will be subject to a $32 insufficient funds fee per item returned. Additional charges from the merchant may also be applied for the returned payment.

If you would like to edit your opt in/opt out status for Standard Overdraft, please complete this form and return it to Capitol Federal.

Extended Overdraft for Non-recurring True Blue® Direct VISA® Debit Card Transactions

All customers are not automatically enrolled in this service, but you do have the option at any time to opt in or opt out of the Extended Overdraft service option. Extended Overdraft allows you to make non-recurring True Blue Direct VISA® debit card transactions even if you don't have enough money in a particular account. When you opt-in to Extended Overdraft Coverage, your transactions may be authorized on insufficient funds and subject to a $32 overdraft fee.

If you do chose to opt out of Extended Overdraft Coverage, your card transactions will not be authorized unless funds are available. If funds are not available, your transactions will be automatically declined. In these instances, transactions declined due to insufficient funds will not be charged an overdraft fee.

If you would like to edit your opt in/opt out status for Extended Overdraft Coverage, please complete this form and return it to Capitol Federal.
