Keeping Your Kids Safe During Halloween
Ghosts, goblins and ghouls, oh my! Halloween is just around the corner and that means talking to your kids about safe trick-or-treating. Here are a few tips to have a fun and safe evening.
1. Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers if you plan on staying out after dark.
2. Even though masks are fun to wear, they can obstruct a child’s vision. Choose non-toxic face paint whenever possible.
3. Have kids carry flashlights or glow sticks to help them see and be seen by drivers.
4. In order to prevent trips and falls, select a costume that fits appropriately and doesn’t drag on the ground.
5. Make sure your child only goes up to homes that have a front porch light on.
6. Talk to you child about staying on the sidewalks and walking, not running, from house to house.
7. If possible, go trick-or-treating in small groups.
At Capitol Federal®, we hope you have a safe and happy Halloween.
