Capitol Federal's 35th branch, as well as the 16th in greater Kansas City and third in Shawnee, opened in April 2003 at Shawnee Crossings, 22400 Midland Drive (K-7 Highway and Shawnee Mission Parkway). The 5,200 square-foot, full-service branch offers three drive-up teller windows and a drive-up ATM. Branch manager Janet Baggett hosted a June 3rd ribbon cutting, welcoming bank employees, Shawnee Chamber members and Shawnee government dignitaries. During a radio remote, Janet declared, "Capitol Federal® considers it a privilege to be a 30-year member of the Shawnee community and to be a part of the Shawnee expansion westward." During the June Shawnee Economic Development Council (SEDC)/Shawnee Area Chamber of Commerce (SACC) Business Appreciation Awards luncheon, Capitol Federal was honored with the Business Development Award for the opening of the Shawnee Crossings office, "for helping make Shawnee a great place to live and do business!"
