Celebrating Black History Month 2025

What began as a week-long event founded by Dr. Carter G. Woodson in February 1926, became an annual month-long celebration to highlight African American history and culture. Black History Month officially became recognized in the U.S. in 1976 when President Gerald Ford declared February as Black History Month.
