Shawnee Branch - 57th & Nieman

On December 7, 1972, Capitol Federal opened its fifth Johnson County office, affectionately nicknamed the "Western" branch. The name came from a teller's observation that it felt like being "on the edge of the frontier," a sentiment solidified when a customer once arrived on a John Deere tractor. The branch became more than just a bank, serving the community with a versatile room used for group meetings, a dance recital, a wedding, and even a picnic that was rained out at a local park.
