On June 1, 1964, Capitol Federal opened its third Topeka branch at 21st and Fairlawn Road, housed in an original blue-brick building. By 1972, the branch expanded with an 875-square-foot addition, bringing the total space to 2,520 square feet. Its popularity with customers also led to the growth of its remote auto teller facilities, increasing from one to three in 1971.
