On March 21, 1994, Capitol Federal® expanded its presence in Johnson County by opening its 24th office, the Lenexa branch, which was the ninth in the area. Recognizing Lenexa's rapid growth alongside Olathe, Capitol Federal chose to build a new office at 15525 West 87th Street. The branch officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 26, 1994 led by Chairman John C. Dicus, marking another milestone in the bank's commitment to serving the growing communities of the Kansas City metro area.
